I was not planning on writing or drawing anything today. I’ve been very wrapped up in my work and my life and some personal art and I haven’t had any energy to put things out into the world. But I had a day that frustrated me and I decided there was something that I did want to say:
I love people who use drugs and I want them around. People who use drugs live lives that are vast and incredible and valuable and full. People who use drugs deserve space in our world and should not have to hide.
When we push people away and pretend they don’t exist we deprive ourselves of the chance to know them and to be known by them.
Drug use is highly stigmatized and makes so many people uncomfortable- if that resonates, I invite you to ask yourself why. I invite you to ask yourself what might happen if you see drug use as morally neutral.
Every day I choose to be in community with people who use drugs. I choose to see them and know them and have relationships with them because it makes my world brighter.
the end.
